This is a dazzling Red Carnival Glass mini-hen on nest salt dish.
Just 2-1/4" tall.
Perfect size for the window sill!
The official name of the color is Persimmon Red Carnival and it has amber highlights.
The glass is a clear bright red. There is some amber/yellow in the glass when the light hits it.
It has a heavy carnival finish that radiates a warm rainbow of colors while letting the natural beauty of the glass shine through.
These mini-hen on nests are covered salt dishes. Also called salt cellar, dip and salter.
Was originally used to hold salt at the table in more elegant era. Makes a great jewelry ring holder!
The chick has her head turned slightly, tiny eyes, and silky feathers. The nest has a ribbed pattern and a flat edge with a basket weave finish on the outside.
Stands 2-1/4" tall with the basket 2-3/4' long by 2-1/4" wide.
New and in mint condition.
Hand made pressed glass.
Made by Mosser Glass, Cambridge, Ohio.
